The Red Devils have been young overall for the past two seasons, but now they’ll have one of the most experienced teams in St. Louis. Brady Cook was a standout sophomore starter and now is a senior Mizzou commit. The pro-style quarterback hasn’t had the career he’s hoped for up to this point, but he’s got the maturity and weapons to push Chaminade to another level in 2019. Like Cook, running back, Loren Fortune is one of the best at his position in Missouri, let alone St. Louis. An injury sidelined him for half of last season, but is 100% now. Amar Johnson is another talented half back that filled in for Fortune last year very well and will form a solid dynamic duo. Jabin Johnson is poised for a breakout senior season at wide receiver alongside rising sophomore Elijah Griffith, and seniors Reese Anthony, and Phil Mullen. Chaminade returns two three-year starting linemen in Jake Divis and Max Powers while sophomores Jimmy Lansin and Alex Todt step in. Defensively, the Red Devils are solid. Ball State commit, Julian McBride is at defensive tackle while Kevin Re and Michael Brightfield return as the two leading tacklers at linebacker. Jamisen Terry, John Kuntz, Luc Nichols all return in the secondary with sophomore Cameron Epps joining up.

A balanced offense with arguably the state’s top quarterback, two amazing running backs, and experienced receivers and linemen should see Chaminade lighting up opponents. Like always, they'll have a tough road to hoe in the MCC, but I can see them competing in every game. Ultimately I see them as favorite to make a deep playoff run in Class 5 come playoff time.
